The UAE and Indian airlines confirmed that flights to Kerala were not affected by heavy rains on Thursday. A cyclone struck the state, causing flooding and leading to orange alerts being issued for nine districts. The India Meteorological Department predicted further rain for the next two days.

Emirates, flydubai, and Air India Express stated that flights between the UAE and Kerala were operating as per schedule despite the adverse weather conditions.

The UAE-India air corridor is one of the busiest due to the significant Indian expat community in the Emirates, with a large portion originating from Kerala.

Official Airline Guide data shows that the UAE has been the leading market for India for the past decade. In April 2024, the top international markets remained consistent with those in April 2014, with Thailand and Qatar replacing the UK and Malaysia among the top five.

In April 2014, Air India and Jet Airways were the dominant carriers, but by April 2024, IndiGo had replaced Jet Airways as the second largest international carrier.
