The Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) announced at a press conference on Wednesday that there will be no ban for individuals who take advantage of the two-month amnesty period commencing on Sunday, September 1.
"This presents the optimal chance for those residing illegally in the UAE to either legalize their residency status or depart the country without incurring fines," the ICP emphasized. They further clarified that those choosing to leave can re-enter at any time with a valid visa. This marks the fourth amnesty initiative by the UAE government since 2007, with the most recent one occurring six years prior. Initiated on August 1, 2018, and initially slated to conclude on October 31, 2018, the federal government extended the amnesty by an additional two months, until December 31, 2018, to accommodate more residency violators in rectifying their status or exiting without penalties.
