UAE citizens holding a US visa will soon benefit from expedited entry into the United States. This development follows the signing of an agreement between the UAE and the US to include the UAE in the 'Global Entry Programme', simplifying cross-border travel for Emiratis. The programme is set to be implemented starting October 2024.

Global Entry is a scheme designed to expedite entry procedures at US ports of entry. It aims to streamline the arrival process for travelers into the US while bolstering security. As pre-screened Global Entry participants, travelers can use a Global Entry kiosk at a US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility or upon arrival at other US ports of entry, thereby avoiding lengthy queues and extra paperwork.

It is important to note that Global Entry participants must still possess a valid US visa to enter the country. In preparation for this collaborative initiative, UAE and US government authorities will commence developing and finalizing the criteria necessary for the UAE's full participation in the Global Entry programme.

The agreement was signed between the UAE Ministry of Interior and the US Department of Homeland Security. The signing occurred during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed's official visit to the US. 'This arrangement marks another stride in our joint efforts to enhance bilateral security and facilitate trade and travel,' stated UAE Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba.

Once the UAE and US conclude their consultations, Emirati citizens who apply and are approved for the Global Entry program will be able to utilize the Global Entry system at 75 airports in the US and other countries.
