The UAE has vehemently condemned the Israeli parliament (Knesset) for approving two laws that prohibit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from carrying out its vital work in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

The UAE has highlighted the crucial and effective role of UNRWA in delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, especially given the difficult conditions arising from the ongoing conflict in Gaza. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that these legislative actions contravene the UN Charter and international standards, and will further intensify the already dire humanitarian crisis.

The Ministry underscored the importance of UNRWA and other UN organizations continuing their mission to provide immediate, secure, and sustainable humanitarian assistance to those in need. Additionally, the Ministry reiterated the necessity of supporting all regional and international initiatives aimed at advancing the peace process in the Middle East, ending illegal practices that jeopardize the two-state solution, and facilitating the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Ministry also reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering commitment to promoting peace and justice, and protecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
