The UAE's embassy in Madrid has issued a warning to its citizens residing in Spain due to the severe weather conditions affecting the country. Emiratis in Spain have been advised to take necessary precautions as the weather continues to deteriorate across various regions. This marks the third time the embassy has issued such a warning as the situation in Spain becomes more critical.
Residents in Spain are preparing for further heavy rain and storms on Wednesday, just two weeks after torrential rains and flash floods caused rivers to overflow in Valencia and other parts of the country, resulting in the loss of over 200 lives and extensive damage to homes and property.
The Spanish weather forecaster, AEMET, issued red alerts on Wednesday morning for eastern Tarragona and southern Malaga provinces, anticipating up to 180 millimetres (7.1 inches) of heavy to torrential rain per square metre within 12 hours. This could lead to rivers overflowing and causing flash floods.
The UAE embassy has also advised its citizens to adhere to safety instructions provided by local authorities. In case of emergencies, citizens are encouraged to contact the embassy at 0097180024 or register for the Tawajodi service.
