The UAE Embassy in Rome has issued a warning to its citizens due to the volcanic eruption on Mount Etna on the island of Stromboli and in Catania city, Italy. The authority has urged all citizens to exercise caution and follow safety instructions issued by Italian authorities. In case of emergencies, citizens can contact 0097180024 or 0097180044444 and register for the Tawajodi service.
News reports indicate that the Catania airport has closed its airspace due to ash in the atmosphere from the eruptions, with ash also reported on the runways. Catania is located at the foot of Mount Etna. Meanwhile, the island of Stromboli is on red alert. Mount Etna, one of Europe's most active and tallest active volcanoes, last erupted strongly in December of the previous year.
