President Sheikh Mohamed has enacted Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024, establishing the UAE Aid Agency under the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. This new entity will operate with its own legal identity and full capacity to act independently. The agency's primary mission is to execute foreign aid programs in alignment with the broader international humanitarian policy framework. Its duties encompass strategic planning, oversight, execution, and monitoring of official government aid initiatives, with a special emphasis on disaster response, early recovery efforts, post-conflict stabilization, developmental projects, and capacity-building programs.
In a statement marking the launch of the UAE Aid Agency, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, highlighted, "The creation of the UAE Aid Agency is a testament to the enduring humanitarian legacy established by our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan." This initiative underscores the UAE's unwavering commitment to tackling global humanitarian issues and promoting sustainable development worldwide, guided by the visionary leadership and steadfast support of President Sheikh Mohamed.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reinforced this commitment, stating, "The UAE Aid Agency's formation underscores our nation's pivotal role in delivering critical aid, enhancing living standards, and supporting communities across the globe." He further emphasized the UAE's dedication to working closely with international allies to generate meaningful and lasting improvements, particularly in areas grappling with crises and instability. Key focus areas include educational services, healthcare infrastructure, and essential public works to foster sustainable development and global prosperity.
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, remarked, "The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency marks our renewed pledge to confront global humanitarian challenges and advance sustainable development through strategic coordination." He added that the agency aims to amplify the effectiveness of the UAE's foreign aid, striving to optimize the impact of humanitarian relief efforts, initiatives, and developmental projects worldwide, in line with the UAE's prominent role in regional and international humanitarian and developmental endeavors.
