A prisoner-of-war exchange involving 180 prisoners from both the Republic of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine was facilitated by the UAE, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa). The UAE's mediation efforts have successfully orchestrated four such exchanges between Russia and Ukraine since the start of the year, with this being the fifth instance. This mediation underscores the friendly and partnership-based relations between the UAE and both countries, according to Mofa. The UAE's reliability as a mediator was pivotal in making the exchange possible, the ministry noted. Gratitude was expressed to the governments of the Russian Federation and Ukraine for their cooperation. The ministry reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting initiatives for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue, conflict reduction, and diplomatic avenues. The UAE also pledged to mitigate the humanitarian impacts of the crisis.
