The UAE Federal Tax Authority has cautioned residents about email phishing scams orchestrated by cybercriminals and advised them to remain vigilant. The authority explained that email phishing is a tactic employed by cybercriminals to deceive users with counterfeit emails masquerading as credible organizations, with the intent of acquiring sensitive information or deploying malware. The authority highlighted that the modus operandi of these cybercriminals typically involves requesting bank account details and other financial information, such as tax data, to impersonate the intended recipient of financial transactions. Additionally, they often use fraudulent invoices to illicitly obtain monetary sums. The authority urged residents to bear these points in mind and refrain from sharing bank account details or any other financial information. They also advised residents to be cautious of account verification requests from unfamiliar organizations and to be wary of malicious file attachments.
