Local UAE golfers Thomas Nesbitt (UAE) and Dominic Morton (Trump International Golf Club, Dubai) are set to journey to the UK to participate in the Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club from July 18 – 21. Nesbitt will compete at North Hants Golf Club, while Morton will be at Hesketh Golf Club for the qualifiers. The Regional Qualifying is scheduled for Monday, June 24, across 15 venues including Bearwood Lakes, Caldy, County Louth, Ferndown, Fulford, Frilford Heath, Goswick, Hesketh, Kedleston Park, Kilmarnock (Barassie), Minchinhampton (Composite), Moor Park (High), Northamptonshire County, North Hants, and Rochester and Cobham Park. The number of spots available from Regional Qualifying will determine the Final Qualifying, which will occur at Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports, and West Lancashire on July 2, with at least 16 places up for grabs. Seventeen golfers have secured their positions through The Open Qualifying Series. Events linked with The Open include the Joburg Open, ISPS Handa Australian Open, IRS Prima Malaysian Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, Mizuno Open, RBC Canadian Open, Memorial Tournament, John Deere Classic, KLM Open, Italian Open, Genesis Scottish Open, and Kolon Korean Open, where leading players not already qualified can gain entry.
