On Thursday, teachers at an Indian school in India were presented with gold coins as part of the Teachers’ Day festivities. Many Indian curriculum schools in the UAE enthusiastically celebrated Teachers' Day on September 5, with senior students taking on the roles of teachers for the day. The UAE hosts over 105 Indian curriculum schools, and these institutions honored their educators for their significant contributions that have a lasting impact on their students' lives.

Abhilasha Singh, Principal of Shining Star International in Abu Dhabi, shared, “Our community partner Burjeel Hospital visited our school to present the Outstanding Teacher award to one of our staff members. Malabar Gold, Musaffah, annually celebrates Teachers Day with us by presenting a large, delicious cake and gift vouchers for our teachers. This year, their team distributed raffle draw coupons and gold coins to the teachers. The first prize winner received a 200g gold coin, and several others won 100g gold coins through the raffle draw.”

School leaders paid homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the renowned educator in whose honor this day is celebrated across the Indian subcontinent and at Indian curriculum schools in the UAE. Punit MK Vasu, CEO of The Indian High Group of Schools, noted, “There was a special celebration organized by all students, featuring dances and skits that traced the evolution of education from the Gurukul system to AI. The celebration also included games for the teachers. Each educator received a personalized gift with a unique message, making them feel deeply valued for their role as teachers.”

Dressed in traditional attire, teachers were warmly welcomed by senior leaders as they arrived at school, setting the tone for a day filled with warmth and appreciation. Zubair Ahmad, COO of Springdales School in Dubai, remarked, “Senior students took charge of the classrooms, allowing the teachers to relax and enjoy the festivities. Students recited poems of gratitude and performed songs dedicated to their mentors. The day was filled with entertaining games and concluded with a sumptuous lunch hosted by the school, leaving the teachers feeling truly cherished.”

At Delhi Private School in Dubai, students organized a special Teachers' Day assembly to celebrate their teachers, featuring unique performances. They presented mementos to convey their heartfelt gratitude. Rashmi Nandkeolyar, Principal and Director of DPS Dubai, stated, “We are proud of the thoughtful efforts our students made to honor their educators. Our management arranged a special lunch for all staff members. To acknowledge our teachers' dedication and the profound impact they have on students, I prepared personalized notes for them, recognizing their contributions.”

Some schools combined their Teachers' Day celebrations with the Malayali festival of Onam, marking the 10-day festivities from September 6 to 15. Sangita Chima, Principal of Amity School Dubai, said, “We had a grand celebration and an Onam Sadhya lunch. The event was a reminder of the teachers' impact, featuring heartfelt messages from our students, a spectacular performance by our talented staff, and a variety of delicious dishes that delighted everyone.”
