The UAE has officially joined the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (EAG) as an observer, marking the first time a country in the region has attained this status.

The UAE also maintains observer status in the Asia-Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) and is a full member of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). This observer status enables the UAE to actively participate in discussions within the Eurasian Group, working alongside member states to bolster regional efforts against money laundering and terrorist financing.

As an observer, the UAE will leverage its expertise, support critical initiatives, and promote collaboration with EAG members to strengthen the regional framework for addressing financial crimes. The observer status is granted to 16 countries and 23 international organisations, all united in the collective mission to combat financial crimes that threaten global economic stability and security.

As a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) global network, the UAE's inclusion in the EAG further highlights its commitment to international efforts in the fight against financial crime.
