DiveCampus has unveiled the UAE’s inaugural All-Women PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering female divers to transform their oceanic passion into a professional career. This unique program offers women the chance to become certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors in an exclusively female-oriented setting, fostering a supportive environment for growth and development.
Led by Sneha Shetty, the co-founder of DiveCampus and the only woman worldwide to hold the titles of PADI Course Director, PADI Swim School Program Director, and PADI Instructor in Technical Diving and Freediving simultaneously, the All-Women PADI IDC is crafted to cultivate a network of robust, proficient female dive professionals poised to lead and motivate others. By creating a secure and inclusive atmosphere for women to attain their PADI Instructor certification, Shetty aspires to bolster female presence in the diving sector, especially in managerial positions.
“The All-Women PADI IDC at DiveCampus is a comprehensive leadership immersion designed to instill confidence and empower women to mold the future of diving. The diving industry is brimming with potential, and I am convinced that women are prepared to assume larger roles within it. We have initiated this program to provide women with the opportunity to become the next wave of diving leaders and to pave the path for a more varied and inclusive community,” states Sneha Shetty, PADI Course Director and Co-founder at DiveCampus.
Dorota Parol, PADI IDC Staff Instructor, adds: “Women have historically been underrepresented in diving, not due to a lack of skill or passion, but because of limited opportunities and role models. The presence of more female instructors will not only inspire a fresh cohort of women to explore and safeguard the underwater realm but will also enrich the diving community.”
Erika Hoffman, Instructor Development Manager for PADI EMEA, highlights: “Enhancing the number of female PADI Instructors globally aligns with PADI’s Pillars of Change, particularly Pillar Three, People and Humanity. Promoting inclusivity and diversity motivates more individuals to learn scuba diving, and organizing an all-female IDC supports the expansion of female diving professionals in this region.”
The All-Women PADI IDC will incorporate extensive PADI training, adaptable schedules with distance-learning alternatives, and mentorship from PADI Course Director Sneha Shetty and seasoned female PADI IDC Staff experts, all geared towards empowering more women in the diving sphere. Participants will also partake in marine conservation activities to bolster the PADI AWARE Foundation.
The course will be conducted at DiveCampus, a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center and Dubai’s sole PADI Eco Center, acclaimed for its dedication to sustainable diving practices. The all-women IDC at DiveCampus invites female divers from across the globe to join this invigorating community and advance their diving careers.
