The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Friday that the UAE was successful in mediating the exchange of 150 prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine. Each side released 75 prisoners as part of the agreement facilitated by the UAE. RIA news agency, citing the Russian defence ministry, confirmed the prisoner exchange.
Since the beginning of the year, the UAE has facilitated three prisoner-of-war swaps between Russia and Ukraine. In addition, in December 2022, two prisoners were exchanged between the USA and Russia with the UAE's assistance. The UAE remains committed to seeking a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, de-escalation, and mitigating the humanitarian impact of the crisis.
