Several mosques in the UAE will soon be equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The ministry, in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (Awqaf), has initiated an energy efficiency project aimed at mosques. In a statement, the ministry highlighted that this initiative is part of its broader commitment to improving energy efficiency and promoting environmental sustainability. By reducing emissions associated with energy consumption in the buildings sector, the project also supports green mobility efforts and enhances the infrastructure for electric vehicle usage.
