On Eid Al Etihad, the Federal Geographic Information Centre unveiled the UAE National Atlas book. This comprehensive publication features a dedicated chapter that guides readers through the nation's historical journey, emphasizing the crucial period from 1968 to December 1971 when the founding fathers laid the groundwork for the Union's establishment. The atlas functions as an authoritative reference, offering detailed geographic information, indicators, aerial photographs, and satellite images, all presented within a temporal framework that encapsulates the UAE's remarkable progress over the past five decades.
Covering a broad spectrum of sectors including social, economic, environmental, and historical aspects such as education, health, energy, water, culture, heritage, roads, transportation, telecommunications, population, environment, geographic information, and more, the atlas reflects the nation's achievements and future aspirations. It serves as a robust data source, integrating geographic information with spatial analysis, enabling a deeper understanding of the UAE's developmental strides under visionary leadership and sustained efforts.
The UAE National Atlas incorporates a series of spatial geographic references developed by the Federal Geographic Information Centre in partnership with federal and official entities. This initiative aligns with the national strategy for geographic information infrastructure, aimed at boosting the geographic information sector's contribution to the knowledge economy and reinforcing the UAE's strategic position in line with its vision for the UAE Centennial 2071.
Previously, in September 2023, the digital version of the Union Atlas was launched, accessible via the 'UAE Atlas' app and the official Union Atlas website, or directly through the Centre's official website.
