In the UAE, various segments of society can access the benefits necessary to enhance their quality of life. A significant aspect of overall well-being is the availability of healthcare facilities and services. The Abu Dhabi Department of Health provides Aounak cards, a health insurance policy, to individuals with determination and orphans under the age of 18. This policy allows beneficiaries to receive care at hospitals, clinics, and emergency centers. Individuals can apply for the Aounak card for free via the TAMM website or mobile app. The applicant must be the concerned individual, parent, sponsor, or legal representative, and the card will be issued within 7 working days.

Required documents include copies of the Emirates ID and passport for both the beneficiary and sponsor, valid residency proof issued by Abu Dhabi, a book stamp copy issued in Abu Dhabi, and a notarized lease contract for GCC citizens only. Additionally, a copy of the People of Determination card issued by the Ministry of Development or Zayed Higher Organisation, a recent medical report detailing the medical condition signed by specialist doctors and approved by health professionals, and a certificate from the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) for those under 18 years old are needed. Those not medically eligible to work are exempt from the age requirement upon presenting an accredited medical certificate declaring them unfit for work. A certificate from ERC is also required if the father and family are deceased, and proof of participation in health insurance under Law No. (23) and its regulations, which covers non-UAE national residents and their families, and may apply to residents in Abu Dhabi by a resolution of the Executive Council.
