UAE residents should prepare for rainfall in certain areas of the country before the weekend, according to the National Centre of Meteorology's announcement on Tuesday.

Light rains are anticipated on Thursday and Friday, with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions expected in the eastward and northward regions. Before the rains begin, temperatures are set to drop on Wednesday. Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally strengthening over the two days.

A climate expert from the NCM had previously forecasted a nationwide temperature drop of 3 to 5°C towards the end of October, as reported by Khaleej Times. Alongside the rain, there is a possibility of fog forming on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings in some coastal and inland areas. The current weather is already foggy as the country transitions into the cooler season.

The sea conditions will be slight to moderate, turning rough on Wednesday night and remaining slight in the Oman Sea. As winter approaches, temperatures have already dipped below 15°C in the UAE's coldest regions this month.

In the coming years, the UAE is expected to experience a 10 to 20 per cent increase in rainfall intensity, while average temperatures could rise by 1.7°C, according to recent official statements. Authorities are already preparing for extreme weather events, similar to the unprecedented rains last April. For example, Dubai has initiated several projects to enhance crisis management and address the challenges posed by severe weather conditions.
