During discussions with US President Joe Biden at the White House on Monday, President Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the 'power of partnerships.' Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE's steadfast commitment to its partnership with the US and praised the strength of building alliances with nations that share common values and aspirations for a brighter future. The UAE President and President Biden explored the depth of the strategic relationship between the UAE and the US, expressing their joint resolve to further fortify these ties. The leaders reviewed various facets of the enduring bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as trade and investment, the economy, advanced technology, space, renewable energy, climate action, sustainability, and food security. They showed eagerness to expand cooperation in these fields to support both countries' shared goals for global prosperity and stability.
To demonstrate the growth of relations between the two nations, Sheikh Mohamed recalled a 1974 meeting between the UAE's Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and a NASA team that provided a briefing on the Apollo program. He noted that, fifty years later, the UAE is now collaborating with NASA on the Gateway mission, humanity's first space station around the moon. Sheikh Mohamed confirmed that the UAE and the US share a robust friendship and a strong strategic alliance founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests. He emphasized that this alliance is rooted in a long history of cooperation across political, economic, and other domains.
The UAE and US Presidents also addressed regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They discussed efforts to achieve a ceasefire, ensure the uninterrupted flow of sufficient humanitarian aid, and prevent any escalation that could threaten regional security and stability. In this regard, the UAE President commended President Joe Biden's initiative and the joint mediation efforts of the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the release of prisoners and detainees from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides. His Highness stressed the importance of continuing these efforts as a preliminary step toward resuming the political process to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring security and stability for people across the region.
Sheikh Mohamed underscored the UAE's dedication to deepening cooperation with the US in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East and beyond, while fostering a strong international partnership to tackle global challenges. This approach aligns with the UAE's long-standing commitment to supporting regional and global stability, peace, and development through collective international efforts. Upon arrival at the White House, the UAE President wrote in the guestbook, expressing his delight at meeting with President Biden. He reaffirmed the UAE's eagerness to continue building on the enduring, strategic relationship between the UAE and the US to support the shared development goals of both countries. He also extended his best wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the United States and its people.
