As temperatures rise in the UAE, residents are venturing to a range of vacation spots, including some lesser-known locales that are gaining popularity. Travel industry specialists observe that UAE residents are broadening their travel horizons, uncovering new destinations that provide distinctive experiences and varied attractions.
Experts report that alongside traditional favorites like Europe and CIS countries, New Zealand and Zanzibar are emerging as top choices for UAE travelers this summer. Dhas Antony, Founder of Rejoice Tourism LLC, noted that New Zealand, once less familiar to residents, is now capturing their interest. "UAE residents have ventured to countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. We've seen numerous residents travel to these continents annually. However, New Zealand's popularity is on the rise," Antony stated.
"One key draw for residents to New Zealand is the climate. While Europe is experiencing heat, it's winter in New Zealand. Additionally, the country's affordability, scenic landscapes, and the allure of exploring a new continent play significant roles," he added. Experts also point out that exotic beach getaways are particularly attractive this year, with South Asian and African countries seeing increased interest.
"Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bali, Malaysia, and Thailand attract sophisticated travelers with their rich cultural offerings, lively nightlife, and beautiful beaches, while Zanzibar's unspoiled beaches and Kenya's wild landscapes provide unique natural and cultural experiences," said Raheesh Babu, COO of Musafir.com. Babu also highlighted the Red Sea in Saudi, famous for its turquoise waters and coral reefs at Al Bayada Island, as a rising star.
Babu additionally mentioned emerging Eastern European destinations, noting a surge in interest for Latvia and Slovenia. "While many are flocking to well-known Schengen countries, 20-25% of UAE travelers are eager to explore these up-and-coming regions." Experts noted a shift in travel preferences among UAE residents of various nationalities, with Filipinos increasingly favoring Asia, Australia, and North America.
"Some opt for the Maldives and CIS countries due to their easy visa processes, while others are drawn to Japan and East Asian nations," said Geoffrey Salatan, CEO of Geof Travel. "We're receiving numerous inquiries for New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, as these countries are ideal during the summer." The United States continues to be a favored destination for those seeking a variety of experiences.
Summer holidays provide residents with extended breaks, allowing them to explore the expansive country and "reconnect with family in the land of opportunities." "With its vast diversity and attractions, the USA caters to every traveler's desires," Babu noted. He also reported a "10% increase in demand from UAE travelers planning trips to the USA."
