The UAE has sent emergency food supplies to Bolivia in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by wildfires, which have resulted in substantial damage. Celinda Sosa, Bolivia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of President Luis Arce Catacora to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed for this gesture, which underscores the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations. Sosa was involved in distributing the aid to those affected.
"Humanitarian aid knows no bounds. Today, we have received food supplies from the UAE for the families affected by the wildfires," she stated.
Ibrahim Al Alawi, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Peru, noted, "This initiative reflects the UAE's consistent approach since its founding by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a principle upheld by the UAE's wise leadership under President Sheikh Mohamed, to swiftly address challenging humanitarian situations. The aid sent also embodies the UAE's humanitarian mission and its enduring values of solidarity and cooperation."
Satellite data from Brazil's space research agency Inpe indicated that Bolivia had 70,628 fire hotspots as of September 22, surpassing the number recorded in the same period in 2010, which ended with a record 83,119 hotspots. The fires in Bolivia have been intensified by drought and land clearances associated with the growing cattle and grain industries.
