Fees for drone-related services in the UAE have been set between Dh200 and Dh10,000, as per a recent Cabinet resolution. This resolution outlines 17 different services, such as permit issuance, renewal, registration certificates, and facility establishment. The fees are detailed in Cabinet resolution No. 58, which was seen by Khaleej Times and published in the Official Gazette in June. The exact timing and method of implementing these new fees are yet to be clarified, though the resolution indicates an effective date 60 days after its publication. The General Civil Aviation Authority is responsible for enforcement and will collect fees via systems developed by the Ministry of Finance. Local authorities in each Emirate will collaborate with the GCAA to provide drone services and collect the designated fees. The Cabinet retains the right to modify these fees, including any additions, deletions, or other changes to the fee structure.

In 2022, the UAE’s Ministry of Interior prohibited the use of drones and light sports aircraft by owners, practitioners, and enthusiasts due to instances of misuse.
