The DP World International League Season 3 Player Selection Process for UAE players took place on Wednesday in Dubai. Among the standout selections were Ethan D Souza, Aryan Lakra, and Dhruv Parashar, who have been chosen for Season 3.
Left-handed batter D Souza will join the Sharjah Warriorz, while Parashar and Lakra will be part of the Desert Vipers and MI Emirates squads, respectively. Parashar recently showcased his skills at the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament 2024, where he claimed five wickets. Meanwhile, Lakra, who played for Gulf Giants Development, scored 85 runs, including a significant half-century.
The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have picked Shahid Iqbal Bhutta and Ibrar Ahmed. Both players impressed at the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament 2024, with Bhutta taking six wickets for the ILT20 Pearls and Ahmed securing six wickets in just four matches for Dubai Capitals Development.
Khuzaima Bin Tanveer, formerly with Desert Vipers Development, will now move up to the Vipers squad alongside Parashar. The Dubai Capitals have selected Farhan Khan and Zeeshan Naseer, who excelled with the ball in the Development Tournament, taking eight and 10 wickets respectively.
The Gulf Giants, Season 1 champions, have added Muhammad Saghir Khan and Muhammad Uzair Khan to their roster. Saghir Khan performed strongly for the Gulf Giants Development, while Uzair Khan led the ILT20 Pearls with 16 wickets at the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament 2024.
Defending champions MI Emirates have reselected seasoned UAE pacer Zahoor Khan, who picked up five wickets during his stint with the ILT20 Pearls. Lakra is their other notable pick.
Former UAE captain Rohan Mustafa will represent the Warriorz alongside fellow left-hander Ethan D Souza. Mustafa aims to continue his strong form from the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament 2024, where he scored 149 runs.
D'Souza, a promising teenager, recently scored an impressive 84 against Pakistan U19 while representing the UAE U19 in the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024.
Season 3 of the ILT20 is set to commence on January 11, 2025. The 34-match tournament will span a month, culminating in the final on February 9.
