Pakistani citizens traveling to the UAE on a visit visa will undergo checks at Pakistani airports and may be denied boarding if they fail to meet specific criteria, including proof of hotel booking, sufficient funds, and return tickets, according to a senior official. Travel industry leaders have confirmed that visitors from Pakistan and other nations must possess at least Dh3,000, a return ticket, and either hotel reservations or evidence of staying with a family member. Those who do not fulfill these conditions are turned away and returned to their origin countries.

During the celebration of Pakistan's 77th Independence Day in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad, the consul-general of Pakistan for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, emphasized the importance of adherence to UAE laws and customs among the 1.7 million Pakistani expatriates in the country. He highlighted the strict enforcement of laws in the UAE, with penalties including fines and imprisonment for non-compliance.

Muhammad also addressed the issue of visa requirements, stating that the Federal Investigation Authority and airport authorities in Pakistan are actively ensuring compliance. He reiterated that those not meeting the visa criteria will be prevented from boarding.

Previously, Pakistan's ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, cautioned against seeking employment on a tourist visa, advising that visitors should focus on tourism activities such as visiting museums, mosques, and malls. He stressed that job seekers should enter the UAE on an employment visa.

Concerns have been raised by some GCC countries regarding the conduct of Pakistani communities in terms of work ethics and law compliance. The UAE remains a popular destination for Pakistani migrants, with over 230,000 arriving in 2023-24, second only to Saudi Arabia.

Consul-general Muhammad also warned about the potential legal repercussions of inappropriate social media posts, noting the strict monitoring of social media to maintain national security and peace.

He concluded by urging respect for local laws and culture, emphasizing the disciplined lifestyle expected in the UAE, which has offered numerous opportunities to its residents.
