A forthcoming initiative is set to facilitate the acquisition of health insurance for tourists visiting the UAE concurrently with their visa applications, as revealed on Monday.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has identified the 'health insurance for tourist visas' as one of its groundbreaking projects. Major-General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, the authority's director-general, highlighted that this initiative will enable tourists to secure health insurance during their online visa application process via the ICP's website or mobile application.
The primary objective of the project is to provide health coverage in emergencies. It will streamline the health insurance procurement process through an electronic system that will oversee the pricing and issuance of insurance packages from all leading insurance firms in the UAE. The exact timeline for the project's implementation remains undisclosed.
