Aircrafts transporting Mpox vaccines will be dispatched to five African nations, following the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed.
Vaccines will be delivered to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon, aimed at combating the spread of the virus.
This move is integral to the UAE's humanitarian initiatives to aid countries in overcoming challenges and emergencies.
“This support underscores the significant role the UAE plays in advancing humanitarian and health initiatives globally, and reaffirms its steadfast commitment to assisting other nations in times of crisis and calamity,” stated Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State.
“This endeavor mirrors the humanitarian principles the UAE is dedicated to, as part of its ongoing efforts to offer aid and support to communities affected worldwide,” he further added.
On Friday, Sheikh Mohamed had also instructed the allocation of $5 million to bolster the emergency polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, following the resurgence of the virus in the region.
