The UAE's travel sector is witnessing a significant increase in international travel bookings as residents aim to maximize their vacations just before the commencement of the new academic year. Travel specialists have observed a sharp rise in reservations for international trips in August and September, with numerous travelers capitalizing on enticing last-minute offers.
"Bookings for August and September 2024 have increased by over 50 percent compared to the same timeframe in the previous year," stated Meerah Ketait, the head of retail and leisure at dnata. The agency pointed out that Thailand, the Maldives, Turkey, the UK, and Mauritius are the most sought-after destinations. "Cooler destinations across Europe are also gaining popularity, along with winter landscapes in New Zealand and South Africa," added Ketait.
"For those looking for cooler climates, late winter in South Africa and New Zealand is becoming popular. Thailand and the Indian Ocean continue to be favored, offering great rates with a broader range of locations being booked from the UAE than ever before," Ketait further noted. However, many are also choosing summer holidays in Europe, which provide sunny days to explore lively cities or unwind on stunning beaches.
Ramy Badr, the sales head at Dopamine Travels, commented: "Despite the summer season coming to an end, the enthusiasm for travel remains strong. Travelers are still actively seeking thrilling destinations, and the demand for spontaneous trips is increasing," said Badr. Namrata Bhatia, the director of marketing at Holiday Factory, stated: "With destinations like Georgia starting at Dh1,799, Turkey at Dh1,999, and Uzbekistan at Dh1,299, our customers are embracing these offers. It’s the perfect time to book that spontaneous escape," said Bhatia.
Experts have noted a substantial rise in last-minute bookings from Africa's breathtaking landscapes to Asia's tropical paradises. Badr mentioned that travelers are increasingly opting for well-known spots like Kenya, Thailand, Poland, Russia, Trabzon in Turkey, the Maldives, and Malaysia for their final summer escapades.
"Trabzon in Turkey, known for its unique combination of natural beauty and historical allure, is seeing increased interest. Meanwhile, the Maldives offers unparalleled luxury and relaxation, ideal for a serene getaway. Malaysia offers a varied range of experiences, from urban cities to verdant landscapes, appealing to a wide array of travelers," said Badr.
