The UAE Official Time is recognized as a cutting-edge model for timekeeping. The frequency of the caesium clock is derived from the unchanging properties of the caesium atom, making it an exceptionally reliable standard for time determination.
By implementing this standard, the UAE ensures that its timekeeping remains both consistent and accurate, which is crucial for numerous applications, including telecommunications, navigation, and scientific research. The Emirates Metrology Institute (EMI) plays a pivotal role in contributing to International Atomic Time (TAI), thereby enhancing the accuracy of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) within the UAE.
In its mission to enhance time accuracy, EMI updates the UAE time scale (UTC-UAE) and offers time synchronization services to its strategic clients, along with high-frequency calibration services. The institute also safeguards the nation's sole time standard, which is linked to UTC, ensuring it remains impervious to interference from satellite systems.
EMI is actively involved in the international committee tasked with redefining the global time standard (seconds) and collaborates with international experts to bolster the competencies of national staff in the realms of time and frequency.
