UFC, the world's premier mixed martial arts organization, is set to return to Abu Dhabi with a historic title fight featuring UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria against the No. 2 ranked Max Holloway. The co-main event will showcase a top middleweight clash between No. 3 ranked Robert Whittaker and No. 11 ranked Khamzat Chimaev in a five-round bout with significant title implications.
This event, held in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), saw UFC 308 tickets go on sale on August 6 through etihadarena.ae and Ticketmaster.ae. Notably, UFC 308 is not only the second UFC event in Abu Dhabi this year but also marks the 20th UFC event in the UAE over the past decade.
Over these ten years, the world's fastest-growing sport has attracted both new and established fans to witness global MMA talent on the Middle Eastern stage. From international stars like Conor McGregor to local MMA athletes such as Mohammad Yahya making his UFC debut, the region has hosted a series of memorable UFC events, significantly contributing to the sport's growth in the Middle East and enhancing Abu Dhabi's sports calendar.
Topuria (15-0-0), aiming to defend his featherweight title, has a record of nine first-round finishes and recently dethroned UFC legend Alex Volkanovski for the featherweight title. This fight promises an all-out spectacle in the UAE's capital. Holloway (26-7-0), fresh from a decisive victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to claim the fan-favorite BMF title, is determined to reclaim the featherweight title this October.
