UK police were on the hunt on Wednesday for a suspect possibly armed with a crossbow, following the tragic deaths of the wife and two daughters of a BBC radio racing commentator in what is believed to be a targeted attack.
Kyle Clifford, 26, from north London, is the main suspect in the case of the three women found dead in Bushey, north of London, on Tuesday night. The BBC has confirmed that the victims are Carol Hunt, the 61-year-old wife of BBC Five Live racing commentator John Hunt, and their two daughters, aged 25 and 28.
Local police reported that officers arrived at a house in the town where the three women were declared dead on the spot. Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson mentioned that armed officers and specialized search teams are participating in the manhunt, urging Clifford to reach out to the police and advising the public not to confront him. Simpson described the incident as "horrific," involving a crossbow, although other weapons might have been used as well.
Interior minister Yvette Cooper expressed her shock at the deaths, calling them "truly shocking," and stated that she is receiving updates on the investigation. A neighbor shared that the family was friendly, often exchanging greetings with the community. "It's really sad what's happened, very shocking," she said.
In the UK, owning a crossbow does not require a license, but it is illegal to carry one in public without a valid reason.
