The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, has voiced profound concern regarding the escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly after recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets. "In light of the Israeli attacks on targets within the Islamic Republic of Iran, the UN Secretary-General is profoundly concerned about the escalating situation in the Middle East. All escalatory actions are deplorable and must cease," stated Stéphane Dujarric, the Spokesman for the Secretary-General. He further emphasized that the UN Chief urgently calls upon all involved parties to halt all military activities, including those in Gaza and Lebanon, and to make every effort to prevent a full-scale regional conflict. The Secretary-General urges a return to diplomatic channels.
