UAE citizens and expats are required to possess a unique identification card known as the Emirates ID, which is mandatory for all residents. Losing this card or neglecting to renew it can lead to significant fines of up to Dh20,000. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has identified 14 violations related to Emirates ID and UAE visa services, with fines varying from Dh20 per day to Dh20,000 depending on the violation. These violations encompass services related to the Emirates ID, Residence, and Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, the ICP has specified six fines of Dh500 each for violations in residency and foreign affairs services, including submitting transactions not belonging to the company, entering incorrect data via e-dirham, and not carrying the representative’s card when conducting transactions. Furthermore, there are three violations that carry fines of Dh5,000 each, such as misuse of the system and obstructing ICP employees.

Residents who delay registering for or renewing their Emirates ID beyond 30 days after expiration may face daily fines of Dh20, up to a maximum of Dh1,000. The passport authority also imposes fines for inaccuracies in printing requests and providing false information, with penalties of Dh100 and Dh3,000 respectively. Issuing visas to non-existent entities results in a hefty fine of Dh20,000.

In case of a lost, stolen, or damaged Emirates ID, immediate replacement must be requested from the ICP, with a replacement fee of Dh300 plus additional application fees. UAE nationals, GCC nationals, and expatriate residents can avail of express replacement services for an extra Dh150 at the ICA main’s Customer Happiness Centre.

Emiratis and residents can apply for exemptions from late renewal penalties under specific conditions, with the ICP outlining criteria for waiving fines.
