One of the initial quests in Act 1 of Path of Exile 2 is named 'The Mysterious Shade,' which involves opening a Memorial Gate in the Cemetery of the Eternals. Your objective here is to locate the Count's Grave and assist a man named Lachlann in finding peace. Upon entering the cemetery, you'll find the Memorial Gate locked, requiring two keys to unlock it. Naturally, you must locate these keys to advance in the quest. To discover the locations of these keys and how to open the gate, continue reading the guide below.

Firstly, the Memorial Gate is situated just south of the Waypoint when you enter the Cemetery of the Eternals. It's not marked or highlighted, but it's a large gate that leads to a pathway. The two keys needed to open the Memorial Gate are found in two separate dungeons within the cemetery area. One dungeon is called the 'Tomb of the Consort,' and the other is the 'Mausoleum of the Praetor.' Both dungeons are relatively close to the Waypoint in the cemetery, but you can see their exact locations in the screenshot below:

The Tomb of the Consort is likely the first dungeon you'll encounter, located slightly northeast of the cemetery Waypoint. The Mausoleum of the Praetor is found northwest of the Tomb of the Consort, right next to a checkpoint. To obtain the keys inside each dungeon, you need to navigate through both dungeons to their ends. As expected, there are numerous enemies to combat along the way, culminating in a boss fight at the end of each dungeon.

As you enter each dungeon, you'll progress a secondary quest in Path of Exile 2 called 'Sorrow Among Stones.' This quest is completed after you defeat both dungeon bosses and assist Lachlann, whom you met at the beginning of the Cemetery of the Eternals. In the Tomb of the Consort, you'll face Asinia, the Praetor's Consort as the final boss. In the Mausoleum of the Praetor, Draven, the Eternal Praetor awaits you at the end of the dungeon. While neither boss is overly challenging, they both appear in each other's boss fights, presenting you with two enemies to handle.

After defeating both bosses, you'll acquire a 'Key Piece' as a green drop. Green drops are always quest items and are hard to miss once the boss is defeated. Collecting both green key drops allows you to open the Memorial Gate back at the start of the Cemetery of the Eternals. The Sorrow Among Stones quest will update to reflect this once both keys have been collected.

With the two Key Pieces in hand, return to the Memorial Gate just south of the cemetery Waypoint, interact with it, and you'll be able to guide Lachlann through. However, this does not conclude 'The Mysterious Shade' or 'Sorrow Among Stones' quests, as you still have one more boss fight to complete.
