Nine years ago, Sony and Supermassive Games introduced Until Dawn, an interactive survival horror story that quickly gained popularity. Supermassive Games continued to create similar games, but never a direct sequel to Until Dawn. Recently, an early leak of Sony's Until Dawn remake has surfaced, revealing new additions that could potentially set the stage for a sequel. Caution: Spoilers ahead for both Until Dawn and its remake.
Eurogamer provided details about the two new post-credits scenes. The first scene features Rami Malek's Josh, a pivotal character in the story. In the original game, Josh's fate had two possible outcomes: death or transformation into a Wendigo. The remake introduces a third fate for Josh, leaving him severely injured but alive after his encounter with the creature. Additionally, Josh is tormented by the voice of Dr. Hill, who suggests that redemption may still be within his reach.
The other new post-credits scene focuses on Hayden Panettiere's Sam. Set several years after the main story, this scene shows an older Sam apparently self-medicating for her severe PTSD. One of the books on her bedside table is titled 'Creature Myths of the Great Plains,' indicating her ongoing research into Wendigos and other mythical beasts. Upon waking from a dream, Sam discovers a bleeding wound on her arm and hears an eerie voice calling her name.
Sony has not yet announced any plans for a new game in the Until Dawn series, but these new additions hint at early concepts for where the story might head in the future. The Until Dawn remake is set to release on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 4.
