At the beginning of Path of Exile 2, you'll receive a Lesser Life Flask and a Lesser Mana Flask. These are adequate for the initial areas and foes, but the challenge escalates swiftly. To keep up with the increasing difficulty, you'll need to acquire superior Life and Mana Flasks. Fortunately, the game simplifies the upgrade process, enabling you to heal more effectively and restore mana faster.
There are several methods to equip stronger flasks in Path of Exile 2, all of which involve replacing your current flasks. As you progress and defeat more enemies, you might find new Life or Mana Flasks. Each new flask will have varying attributes, sometimes weaker and other times stronger than your current one. For instance, a new Mana Flask might restore more mana but have fewer charges. You can identify a better flask by examining the adjective in its name; 'Grand Life Flask' is typically superior to 'Greater Life Flask'. However, other factors beyond the name should be considered, such as higher rarity flasks that come with additional modifiers, prefixes, and suffixes affecting their performance and even boosting your stats.
You can also enhance magic items (blue highlighted) with Orbs of Augmentation. If your flask isn't a magic item, use an Orb of Transmutation to convert it. Unfortunately, obtaining new flasks is somewhat limited. You can buy them from certain vendors in the towns across the three Acts in early access, such as Renly, Luna, and Finn in Clearfell Encampment during Act 1. However, these vendors often overcharge, and you're more likely to find better flasks by defeating enemies. Most flasks from enemy drops are initially 'unidentified'; use a Scroll of Wisdom to identify them. These scrolls can be found as drops or purchased from vendors like Luna in Clearfell.
Once you've identified a new flask, swap it with your current one in your inventory. Prioritize flasks based on their charge capacity and restoration amount. Most flasks hold 70-80 charges, and their descriptions indicate how many charges are used per use. For example, a flask using 10 charges with 75 total allows seven uses (10 x 7=70). Some flasks use fewer charges but restore less HP/Mana. Decide whether you prefer more charges or higher restoration per use. Modifiers also play a role; while you can add more, those from Orbs of Augmentation are random. Prefer flasks with decent initial modifiers unless you get a better random one.
