Renowned Hollywood producer Daniel Selznick has sadly passed away. He was the youngest son of the iconic film producer David O. Selznick and the theatrical producer Irene Mayer Selznick.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel, aged 88, succumbed to natural causes in California. Born on May 18, 1936, in Los Angeles, he pursued his education at Harvard University, the University of Geneva, and completed graduate studies at Brandeis University. Subsequently, he ventured into the entertainment sector and contributed to numerous notable projects.

His father, David, who passed away in 1965, was responsible for producing numerous classic films, such as 1939's Gone with the Wind, 1946's Duel in the Sun, and 1933's King Kong. His mother, Irene, who died in 1990, was the daughter of film magnate Louis B. Mayer and was nominated for a Tony Award for the 1955 play The Chalk Garden.

Daniel went on to produce the Peabody Award-winning documentary The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind, in collaboration with his elder brother Jeffrey Selznick, who passed away in 1997. This documentary showcased the creation of their father's cherished 1939 film.

Additionally, he took on the role of producer for various TV mini-series including Blood Feud, Hoover vs. the Kennedys: The Second Civil War, Night Drive, and Reagan's Way: Pathway to the Presidency, for which he also served as director. He held the position of director at the Louis B. Mayer Foundation for several years and achieved success in theatrical production.

Daniel Selznick was married three times and did not leave behind any immediate survivors, as per the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
