Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark has made history by becoming the first Dane to win the Miss Universe title.
"I put in a lot of effort. I worked tirelessly to rebuild a reputation, and for me, making history today as the first woman from Denmark to claim the Miss Universe crown is monumental. I believe both Denmark and Europe will be immensely proud," Theilvig stated during a press conference following her victory.
The 21-year-old advocate for animal protection and diamond industry professional surpassed Miss Nigeria at the 73rd edition of the pageant held in Mexico City, with Miss Mexico securing the third position.
The event, hosted at the 20,000-seat Mexico City Arena, showcased a mariachi performance and a rendition of "Mexicana" by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. Over 120 contestants took part, including first-time participants from Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Macau, Maldives, Moldova, and Uzbekistan.
