Sweden's Viktor Gyökeres scored four goals on Tuesday, surpassing Erling Haaland as the top scorer in the Nations League. Gyökeres began the evening with five goals from five Nations League games. His third goal against Azerbaijan in the 58th minute brought his tally to eight goals in six games, one more than Haaland.
Gyökeres, one of the most sought-after players in world soccer this season, didn't stop there, adding his fourth goal shortly after. Haaland had been the leading scorer before the final evening of games, having scored seven goals for Norway, including a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan on Sunday.
Ukraine secured a spot in the League A/B play-offs by defeating Albania 2-1. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Roman Yaremchuk gave Ukraine a commanding lead with two goals in the first 10 minutes, but they were left hanging on after Nedim Bajrami's second-half penalty reduced the deficit.
Germany, already qualified, conceded a stoppage-time equalizer and settled for a 1-1 draw against Hungary in their final group match. Hungary's Dominik Szoboszlai scored a penalty with the last kick of the game to cancel out Felix Nmecha's 76th-minute goal. Hungary had already secured a place in the League A/B playoffs.
Bosnia-Herzegovina fought back to earn only their second point in the Nations League, holding a second-string Netherlands side to a 1-1 draw. Ermedin Demirovic equalized in the 67th minute, as Bosnia sought a positive result to honor veteran striker Edin Dzeko in his final international. Brian Brobbey had given the Dutch team a 24th-minute lead at the Bilino Polje Stadium after coach Ronald Koeman fielded an entirely fresh lineup for their last fixture in Group A3.
The Netherlands had already secured second place in the group and a spot in the quarter-finals in March with a 4-0 win over Hungary on Saturday, while Bosnia's relegation from the top tier of the Nations League was confirmed after a 7-0 loss to Germany at the same time.
