Walt Disney announced on Tuesday the launch of a new cruise ship, scheduled to depart from Tokyo in 2028, expanding its fleet to nine vessels. The new ship, inspired by the Wish, the largest in the Disney fleet, is a collaboration with Oriental Land Company (OLC), the operator of Tokyo Disneyland. This initiative is part of a $60 billion, 10-year expansion plan for Disney's theme parks and cruise line. Currently, Disney operates five cruise ships. Along with the Tokyo-based ship, Disney plans to introduce three additional vessels, including one set to sail from Singapore in 2025. The name of the new ship remains undisclosed, but it is expected to accommodate up to 4,000 passengers and generate approximately 100 billion yen ($621.77 million) in annual revenue within a few years of its launch, according to OLC.
