Westport Yachts has unveiled the inaugural unit of its 35.8-metre raised pilothouse series, the W117. The vessel is now set to undergo "extensive sea trials" prior to her delivery and debut at the 2025 Palm Beach International Boat Show.
The construction of this GRP yacht commenced in 2022, following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The design process incorporated "three-dimensional modelling and structural software," techniques borrowed from the aviation industry. The yacht offers accommodation for 10 guests across five en suite cabins, along with quarters for five crew members, including the captain. The master cabin is situated on the main deck, featuring a his-and-hers bathroom and a backlit Majelite headboard.
Interior renderings showcase a palette of whites and greys, complemented by leather and vinyl accents, providing "a neutral backdrop for an owner to personalize with their preferred style." Premium woods such as mahogany and pomelle sapele have been utilized, along with beech hardwoods in the crew’s quarters. With a beam of 7.7 metres, the main deck saloon is described as "dramatically open and spacious" by the shipyard. The interior dining table can be positioned aft for semi-al fresco dining. Although full details remain undisclosed, other notable features include a beach club bar and a flybridge equipped with a centreline hot tub, settees, barbecue, and bar.
Power will be supplied by a pair of Caterpillar C32 engines, enabling a top speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots. With a draft of 1.9 metres, the W117 will be capable of navigating shallow bays and anchorages, such as those found in the Bahamas and Caribbean.
