A World Health Organization official emphasized on Tuesday that mpox, whether it is the new or old strain, is not the new COVID, as authorities are aware of how to manage its spread. "We can and must address mpox collectively," stated Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe, during a media briefing. "Will we opt to establish the systems necessary to control and eradicate mpox globally? Or will we fall into another cycle of panic and neglect? Our response now and in the coming years will serve as a crucial test for Europe and the world," he further noted.
