Whoopi Goldberg interrupted her co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farrah Griffin during a passionate debate about school vouchers on Wednesday's episode of 'The View.' Goldberg, 69, grew frustrated and decided to cut to a commercial break after Hostin, 56, and Griffin, 35, talked over each other.
The heated discussion started when they were debating President-elect Donald Trump's recent nomination for Secretary of Education, WWE co-founder Linda McMahon. Griffin, who worked in the first Trump administration but endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, argued that Trump would likely focus on expanding voucher systems and education savings plans. Hostin, a left-leaning legal expert, disagreed, stating that vouchers primarily benefit students already attending private schools, thereby disadvantaging public schools.
Despite Griffin's attempts to interject, Hostin continued to argue against school vouchers, emphasizing that they divert funds from already struggling public schools. Goldberg eventually intervened, stating that no one could understand the conversation and decided to take a commercial break.
After the break, Goldberg addressed the tension, acknowledging the beauty of differing opinions and the occasional messiness of such discussions. She then reopened the topic for further conversation.
