Yoane Wissa scored his seventh goal of the season, netting a brace to help Brentford recover from their recent setback against Fulham and secure a victory over Bournemouth. The Bees were in need of a strong response after Harry Wilson's late double stunned them in their previous Premier League match. After Evanilson capitalized on a Sepp van den Berg error to give Bournemouth an early lead, Wissa's header leveled the score in west London.
Justin Kluivert's goal from inside the six-yard box put Bournemouth back in front after the break, but Brentford's Mikkel Damsgaard and Wissa's second goal sealed the win. Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Wissa, stating, "I'm very happy, I think he's better as a nine and I think he's developed fantastically. His overall game with his link up, his hold up, his work ethic and two great goals was very good."
Bournemouth dominated possession with an extra man in central areas before their 17th-minute opener. However, Brentford seemed affected by their recent defeat, with Van den Berg gifting Evanilson an early goal. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola commented, "I think it's a hard one because I'm happy with the performance. In the first half we were the better team but we couldn't make the difference."
Brentford struggled to create chances and resorted to long-throw tactics to find an equalizer. Mathias Jensen's throw-in was flicked on, allowing Wissa to head past Kepa Arrizabalaga, redeeming Van den Berg's earlier mistake. Bournemouth regained the lead four minutes after the break with a well-executed move from a corner, but Brentford leveled again when Bryan Mbeumo found Damsgaard, whose shot beat the poorly positioned Kepa.
Wissa's second goal, a deft chip over Kepa, put Brentford ahead for the first time. Frank praised his team's resilience, saying, "It's a great reaction in many ways. It was not perfect but the bounce-back mentality was unbelievably good." Brentford held on to their lead, avoiding another late scare as Bournemouth hit the bar, securing the three points they had lost in their previous match.
