Wizz Air has unveiled the inaugural route for its new Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft, heralding a new chapter in ultra-low-fare long-haul travel. Beginning June 2, 2025, Wizz Air will operate daily direct flights between Milan and Abu Dhabi. This route is just the beginning, as the Airbus A321XLR's extended range and efficiency will transform intercontinental travel, making it more accessible than ever, according to the airline.
"We're thrilled to capitalise on the success of our recent Abu Dhabi to Chisinau and Cluj route launches by announcing the first destination for the Airbus A321XLR, the most cost-efficient aircraft in its class," said Tamara Vallois, Head of Commercial at Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. "The increased range capability will link Abu Dhabi with new and exciting destinations across our growing network. We're pleased to offer our customers unbeatable fares on the newly announced route to Milan, while ensuring the most sustainable flying option," Vallois added.
Nathalie Jongma, Vice-President of Aviation Development at Abu Dhabi Airports, commented, "The introduction of the Airbus A321XLR on this route is significant, as it enables longer direct flights on narrow-body aircraft and reinforces our dedication to providing travellers with a wide selection of destinations and a smooth travel experience."
