A woman lost her life when a luxury car collided with the bicycle she was sharing with her husband in the early hours of Sunday in Mumbai's Worli area, according to Maharashtra police.

The victim, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa (45), a resident of Worli Koliwada, was killed in the accident. Her husband, who was also involved in the crash, suffered injuries and is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital, police stated.

A BMW vehicle struck two individuals on a bicycle. The female passenger succumbed to her injuries, while the male rider was hurt. This tragic event occurred at 5:30 AM as the couple was passing Atria Mall in Worli, as per a Mumbai Police statement.

The driver of the vehicle abandoned the scene post-accident. The incident transpired as the couple, members of the fishing community, were heading home after purchasing fish. The husband managed to escape the speeding car, but the woman did not survive her injuries, despite medical treatment. The Worli police are continuing their investigation into the matter.

Police highlighted that the luxury car involved is registered to a political leader from Palghar, Maharashtra, and his son was present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
