The Women's T20 World Cup has been relocated from Bangladesh to the UAE, according to a statement released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday. The competition will be held in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20.
“It is regrettable that we are unable to host the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, as we are aware that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have organized a remarkable event,” stated ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice. “I extend my gratitude to the BCB team for their efforts to explore all possibilities to host the event in Bangladesh, but due to travel advisories from several participating teams' governments, this was not feasible. Nevertheless, they will keep the hosting rights. We anticipate bringing an ICC global event to Bangladesh soon.”
“I also want to express my thanks to the Emirates Cricket Board for agreeing to host the event on behalf of the BCB and Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their kind offers of assistance, and we look forward to hosting ICC global events in both of those countries in 2026.”
