World of Warcraft is finally introducing player housing. Blizzard confirmed during its recent Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct that this highly anticipated feature will be part of the MMORPG's upcoming Midnight expansion, saving the most exciting announcement for the end of the livestream.

In a brief teaser video, a Death Knight enters a modest house. Inside, the walls are decorated with the head of the dragon Onyxia, various weapons and shields, a miniature Goblin shredder mech, and more. The tired adventurer places their sword down, sits by the fireplace, and takes a sip from a mug inscribed with 'Home Sweet Home.'

While details are scarce, GameSpot had the opportunity to speak with WoW game director Ion Hazzikostas before the anniversary livestream. He confirmed that the feature has been in development for several years.

Hazzikostas mentioned that more information will be revealed over the next year, but the team is eager to share the news and start a dialogue with players about their expectations for digital housing in Azeroth.

During BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard announced the next three WoW expansions simultaneously and indicated a faster release pace than the usual two-year cycle. According to Blizzard's 2025 WoW content roadmap, Midnight won't arrive next year, but more details about the expansion will be disclosed next summer.

Hazzikostas emphasized that despite Midnight's delayed release, the team is committed to maintaining a steady update cadence while preparing a full-fledged new expansion.

Player housing in WoW was just one of several Warcraft-related announcements during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Stream. Blizzard also announced remastered versions of Warcraft 1 and 2, a StarCraft crossover for Hearthstone, and updates for WoW Classic.
