Step aside, College Football 25: World of Warcraft is making waves with a surprising crossover involving college athletes. Blizzard has unveiled a fresh partnership with the University of Washington, transforming the college into the University of Warcraft for a week leading up to the Washington Huskies' home finale against UCLA. UW Football and WoW are teaming up to deliver a "one-of-a-kind in-stadium experience" on Friday. This includes World of Warcraft mascots escorting the team onto the field, a fan zone for character meet-and-greets, and exclusive visuals on the stadium's video board.
Blizzard has designed a special logo for the University of Warcraft collaboration and promises more WoW-themed graphics in the lead-up to the game. Additionally, some Washington Huskies players have signed NIL deals to promote the takeover. These players include Carson Bruener, Denzel Boston, Jonah Coleman, Camden Simon, Adam Mohammad, Kamren Fabiculanan, Jacob Lane, Cameron Broussard, D’Angalo Titialli, Demond Williams Jr., and Will Rodgers. They will be sharing the news on social media to hype up the Warcraft takeover, though it remains unclear if they will make an in-game appearance.
"We are excited to blend interactive entertainment with the sports world to commemorate 20 remarkable years of World of Warcraft captivating millions of players globally," said Blizzard's head of marketing, Monica Austin, as reported by Sports Illustrated. "Our teams have collaborated to craft unforgettable in-person and broadcast experiences for fans, and we anticipate both Husky Nation and World of Warcraft players will be eager to join in the festivities in Washington."
The WoW-themed event is scheduled for this Friday, November 15, at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET at Husky Stadium in Seattle, and will be televised on Fox for those curious about this unexpected partnership.
