An Xbox enthusiast recently shared a harrowing account of how he was struck by a truck and dragged beneath it, with the Xbox in his backpack playing a crucial role in preventing a more severe injury. Brandon J recounted his terrifying experience on social media, detailing how he was cycling home from GameStop with a new Xbox Series S in his backpack when he was hit by a truck. The driver failed to stop, and Brandon was pulled under the vehicle.
"The Xbox in my backpack prevented me from hitting my head or worse, even dying. I wasn't gonna get shredded beneath the truck so I used my left leg to attempt to slow the truck," Brandon wrote. He described how his bike wedged his right leg, immobilizing it, and his backpack was nearly torn off his left shoulder, slamming into the curb along with him.
Brandon felt the full weight of the truck's front end rolling onto his ribs and was dragged for about 12 feet. He was rushed to the hospital, where he miraculously only sustained a broken bone in his left foot and some road rash. Remarkably, his Xbox remained intact and functional, booting up normally and running games despite the ordeal.
"If the Xbox wasn’t in my bag at the time, a lot more could have happened…" Brandon noted. He shared images of the damage, which caught the attention of Microsoft. Aaron Greenberg, the marketing boss, announced that the Xbox team is sending Brandon a new console. The official Xbox account also expressed relief at Brandon's safety and wished him a speedy recovery.
