Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that a successful collaboration between China and the United States is a chance for mutual growth rather than a hindrance, according to state media reports on Wednesday.
"China is eager to be a cooperative partner and friend to the United States. This partnership will not only benefit both nations but also the global community," Xi conveyed in a letter addressed to the 2024 annual awards dinner of the National Committee on US-China Relations, as reported by CCTV.
Xi emphasized that the relationship between China and the United States is one of the most significant bilateral ties globally, influencing the future and fate of humanity, as outlined in his letter.
The two nations have faced challenges due to national security issues, ongoing trade disputes, China's activities in the South China Sea, and increased military exercises near Taiwan. Trade relations have deteriorated over the past year, focusing on restrictions involving electric vehicles and advanced semiconductors.
"China has consistently managed China-US relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. China has always viewed the success of both nations as an opportunity for mutual benefit," Xi asserted.
